The couch

The last two days have been in the 30s/90s so I’ve spent most of the time in the house, not moving too much. Weather evens out this week and I am looking forward to enjoying the fall.

People have been burning their yard waste, which makes the air smoky, and it smells like someone lit a dresser on fire outside on the street below. You can’t escape it, so we do our best to shut the windows before it wafts in and gets trapped in the house.

The couch is my desk, so I am often sitting there, working, moving piles of paper from one end of the coffee table to the other as I switch job focus: teacher, RA, editor, teacher. I like working from home, making my own schedule, organizing my time. Introvert paradise.

Today a pigeon landed on the window sill.
